So, just a quick one cause I gotta go sleep in a bit..! I got a new camera! Samsung MV800. I'm loving it! haha!! I can Camwhore like crazy! :D

This was a short video that I did just to test it out..! it may not be THAT clear as the lighting was dim and i also added a filter which made it slightly grainier.

A Random Hello ♥

I often want to blog like I used to back in my secondary school days. The posts were so much more detailed and interesting and eventful..! they were so much more entertaining to read..! lol!!

Something also very random, this morning I dreamed that I was real life good friends [or rather became..] with Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato..! LOLOL! They were nice. heh. They WERE Celebrities in my dream.. but they were not the DIVA-ish type. I guess that's what i'd assume they would be. i really like them! I'd admit that i do not listen to their music THAT MUCH, i only know the super popular songs.. and some of the tv shows they are in. i am big fans of them though. they are inspiring. and are my age! okay, age doesnt matter.. but i's just thought i'd mention it. AHA... and i also dreamt of the muppets in that same dream. and sel and demi did a collab with them. i was just watching. i went to their rehearsal with them. hahaah! okay, that's all i remember from it. it's been more than half a day since i had that dream so.. i cant rmb..! :P it was fun though. wish i had more of such dreams. ahah!

Anyways recently, I've been busy busy busy as always..! but then again, I also have a lot of free procrastination times.. HAH. oh well.. very often i just want to NUA [relax] like crazy and just rot all day. ahha! Mostly, I've been busy with settling all the uni application and audition stuff since January.. but now i can safely say.. [i think?] that i am done with all of them!! and am just waiting for responses, i guess..

a few weeks ago, i had a whole week of camp.. [freshman orientation- i went to help out] and then a class chalet.. and resting..

I am behind schedule on my music theory studies..! i've been so caught up that i kind of forgot to practice and study. oops. i better get started soon.. =/ i'm gonna go out tomorrow though. but we'll see how it goes. also need to bathe the piggies, Toffee & Butterscotch..!

Havent blogged about them in awhile. they are doing rather fine. super adorable as always..! will try to post videos/photos of them soon..!

Some people have noticed that I did not do my usual 'Hi everyone! I'm Vivian!' in the beginning of the video.. haha!
That is because this was the recording for an audition video for school so.. ahah! This was one of the three songs and I just decided to share it with you all, since it is my first piano cover! :D Have been playing more in the past 6 months.. Hopefully I will be able to upload more covers in the near future. :)

Some of you might already be aware of my new hair colour from my posts and pictures on Facebook and Twitter.. The day before, I tried dying my hair at home with this organic hair dye called "Tints of Nature' It smells like honey and bananas. haha! and looked like honey too.. LOLS! It left my hair actually feeling pretty moisturized, to my surprise and made it more conditioned.. yay! ahha. but then, i made a mistake and the result was that there was still a rather visible line of two different shades of colour in my hair.. =/ [from my old bleached hair..] and the dye was supposed to make my hair look dark reddish purple.. but it seemed more brown than either... not much colour difference except for making the blonde yellowish [faded from purple 6 months ago] sorta darker brown..

I was happy with how it affected the condition of my hair. but i didnt quite like the colour. SO...

the next day, AKA yesterday.. I went to my favourite salon [have been going there since 2010 or even 2009.. cant rmb] Gataomo which is located in Far East Plaza! & attended by my fave & regular stylist, May Wei! :DDD Love her so much!! In the past, I would ALWAYS have to worry about something going wrong with my haircut.. and dread getting it cut and might have to sorta hide at home for a week after getting my hair cut.. LOL. but ever since I came to this salon, I've been satisfied 100% of the time!!! :D I'm not kidding! I have never once been disappointed by their service and quality [and price..! student price hehehe] May Wei knows that i like having interesting and sorta wild haircuts. she was the one who helped me chop off all that LOOOOOONNG [and dry] hair in end on 2010! [i've kept my hair short for over a year now!]

i told her i wanted to colour my hair. she was like 'why do u suddenly wanna colour your hair?' well, i havent done so in half a year, and i feel that with the black roots coming out SO MUCH, it was unsightly and i wanted to try something new..! [i get bored of my hair on an average of every half-one year or so.. aha] then i asked her about the price to do two colours and such.. negotiated a little bit.. hahahahaha =x [so aunty, ikr?! but what to do, i'm not THAT rich.. ahhaa and if i can get some sort of discount, why not. eh?]

So now i am SO IN LOVE WITH IT! :D wheee!! Whenever people ask me for recommendations for salons.. FOR SURE, i will recommend Gataomo!! :D ^.^ hurhurhurs!! they even serve water! most otehr salons do not bother. oh, and it is reservation only. well, occasionally walk ins are alright.. if you are lucky and only want a wash/cut. i usually make an appointment on the day itself, like in the morning.. and i go later in the afternoon. :)

So it's been FOREVER since I last blogged regularly and properly [non promotional purposes.. lolz] haha! I do apologize for that.. though I believe that I have lost most if not all of my old regular stalkers readers.. haha. but what i DO know is that there is that handful of you who come read my blog whenever you see it posted on Facebook. I really appreciate that, so thank you! ^^ :)))

Well, so... SCHOOL IS OVERRRRR!!!! YAYYYYYYYYY I am sorta semi-graduated now like FINALLY!

HOWEVER!!! although all crits and graded stuff are done and over with, I still have to do stuff to contribute to our Graduation Showcase in March at Vivocity! [will let u all know more details when the date is nearer..!] SOOOO, I have some essays to write and edit, and MORE PROTOTYPES TO MAKE. WTH!!!!! T.T aka spend more money and more sleepless nights coming my way THIS WEEK [thank goodness.. hopefully after that i will truly be free from all this..]

BUT after all this is over, it doesnt meant that i can take a break just yet..! i gotta study and revise my music stuff and settle all my university applications and such. ugh. it's frusterating.. you think it's so easy just to apply uh. THERE ARE SO MANY STEPS!! OMG!!! D:

I am seriously so tired.. mentally and physically.. but i really cant wait to get all these done, wait for replies from school and [HOPEFULLY] get accepted into several schools and make my choice and move on to the next stage of my life..! =/ [so scary.. yet exciting at the same time!]

So, I don't know.. Just hope that all will go well and smooth for me.. haha!

As for my other friends who have yet to complete your poly, or if you are already in uni.. or whatever you are doing.. JIAYOU!!!! never give up, much as we all want to at times.. ahha :) and don't forget to take a little break every once in awhile.. sit down, have some tea and cake. ^.^

I'm 20!!!?? WHUUUTTT?!

*note: this post was typed sorta halfway one day after my birthday on 30th January 2012; but continued later before i post it..*

Experiment: Facebook reminders.

I must say it was a success. The experiment, that is. Haha. Well, since a few months back, about half a year, perhaps? I decided to conduct some sort of experiment by removing my birthday on facebook so that it will not remind others when it was my birthday. To be completely honest, I was slightly reluctant and wanted to make it visible again... If you know me, you might know that I sorta love the popularity/attention. Haha.. Last year because of facebook, over 300 people wished me happy birthday via my wall, text and even phone calls. (not forgetting those who wished me face to face) much as I loved that people took a few moments off, regardless of how deep our friendship was or whether we were just acquaintances, just to wish me.. I couldn't help but to think of doing this to see who are the ones who REALLY remember or would take note (or who stalks me... Lol)

To those who remembered or took notice, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! You know who you are and I love you for that, you awesome people. :)

But to those who did not know or remember it was my birthday today, I do not blame you nor hold any kinda grudge whatsoever as I am guilty of relying on Facebook to remind me of my friend's birthdays. Haha. However there is always that handful of people whose birthdays I will always remember or put in the extra effort to set a reminder the old fashioned way... Haha. I feel that there is more meaning that way, compared to having a notification sent to everyone on my friends list in fb. Cause if I did let it do that, I would expect a lot from everyone who logs on to fb on a very regular basis. I know most of us probably are. Especially the ones reading this now. Haha.

I also will admit that although facebook tells me whose birthday it is, I wish some people selectively. And if I have missed your birthday, please excuse me as I do not always go on the news feed. And well you know.. Busy life. Haha. So i am as guilty as many of you are, out there.

And what happened to calling to make wishes instead of just facebook? I've decided.. As long as I have your phone number.. And we've been close at least for awhile and things are not TOO WEIRD between us, you will get AT LEAST a text from me, if not a phonecall ^.^

I want to bring that meaning and point of acknowledging one's existence back. Not just a simple rather meaningless wish on facebook. I want people to know that I care about them and am happy they exist in my life. :) because I know that with this experiment, the people who put in that little effort to wish me... They make me feel appreciated and that I have good reasons to live and continue to be a part of their lives forever. :)

[at this point, I saved the post as a draft as i had to do my assignments but i felt that it was not quite complete as a post.. so here i am, 23rd Feb 2012 continuing it..]

I must say at first, I was slightly sad but expected many not to remember my birthday.. haha.. but then again, was surprised with a few of those who wished me. =] well, this year i really decided to keep it 'low profiled'.. 2 years ago, i had a birthday party where i invited over a hundred guests.. LOL!! i hope that i will be able to have a party again for my 21st though. =)

well, ultimately.. my point of this post is that.. the numbers do not matter.. it's the people who care that matters the most. I think that my birthday was much more well celebrated than i thought it would have been, somehow. I knew that they were not done just for the sake of it. i know that those who did something, did it out of their hearts and will to do so. :) Love you all!!!! :')

so let me share with you all what happened..!

on the day of my birthday, it was a Monday.. i did not go to school as i was not feeling too well. so i decided to stay home and do my work.. i had to go for piano at night though.. when i got home, it was around 9+.. had my super late dinner.. alone.. my mom warmed up my dinner for me. [rest of the family ate earlier] so at this point.. it was nearly the end of the day... i really didnt want to expect anything... i thought that it would be a birthday that was just somehow.. well... nothing much? ahha

but i was wrong. Suddenly, I heard "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUU~~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUU~~....." IT WAS MY BELOVED ♥GANGY who came to my house with a cake!!! ZOMGZ!!! I WAS SO HAPPY I WAS SPEECHLESS!! :DDDDDDDDDDDD OMG I LOVE YOU GIRLS T.T they are soooo sweet!!! they really surprised me! so then, my mom came out of her room with ANOTHER CAKE LOLOLOLOL!!! we ate so much cake! and had tea! yumyum! :) I mean, I couldn't ask for more, really..! :)))

oh, and my boy ♥Sean was overseas in Brunei during my birthday so... celebrated when he got back. =] but before he went off, he left me a little surprise message with a super cute gif of himself that he made for me and also an audio clip of him singing happy birthday to me. :D i am so blessed! Took awesome polaroids which i have yet to scan... and Versace perfume which I wanted to get! [but have never REALLY mentioned.. well, only mentioned ONCE quite some time ago.. boyboy remembered!! ♥]

the next day's morning, i met dear ♥Jody for breakfast at YaKun in SP! ahah!! it was really nice. we didnt have as much time as i'd hoped.. but it was a great time, nonetheless. :D she got me cake [THE WHOLE CAKE!!] and chocolates from Awfully Chocolate!! ZOMGZ!! *induldge TTM!!! haha!!! A very lovely handmade card which i adore OH SO MUCH..!! :DDD & apart from all that, i also had a present from her!! so sweet of her! & though she said she wasnt sure what to get for me, i'm pretty sure deep down, somehow she knew..! haha!!! Maybelline mascara & blusher!! JUST WHAT I NEEDED HAHA!!!!! REALLY!!! i was just about to go buy these soon.. and now i dont need to anymore. ehehe. :P

back in class, it went on pretty normally, a few classmates wished me a belated birthday cause they remembered aww! :') and towards the end of the day at around 5pm or so, i think.. a bunch of em came with a cake!!! AWWW!!! :DDD It was meant for the Jan babies of our class. =] so wow... 4 cakes in just 2 days for me..!!

hahaha!!! so i guess though i meant for it to be 'discreet' and all, i'd say my birthday went pretty well and enjoyable this year dispite perhaps the attention from everyone else.. but i guess then again, i really don't need those at all when i have all these wonderful friends [and not to forget family :))) ] who truly care for and love me so much! ♥♥♥

Hahaha, as you all would have noticed, I've been too lazy busy to blog here.. HAHA. trust me, i really want to..!! even if it's not for you all to read specifically, i hope to be able to track and record some moments in my youthful teenaged life here if i can.. AHHA but sadly, busy busy me. I am still up now, at 4.36AM.. i reckon that i will not get any sleep tonight.. it is almost morning, already!! ugh!! I still have loads to do. okay okay, just a quick post while i am here.. lolz!

I woke up later than i wanted to... I set 2 alarms [one on my phone and another on my ipod touch].. but apparently.. my bad habit got the better of me. if some of you were keeping up with, or have seen on yuor newsfeed, my FB post.. ahhaha. you already know about this... what happened was that i switched off BOTH alarms and went back to lalaland, unconsciously. =.= i only realised what i had done when i woke up at like 1pm?! or so.. i can't really remember the exact time i got up. perhaps it was just past noon.. i then went to shower and have lunch.

i wanted to wake up slightly earlier in the morning at like 10am or so.. to do vocal warm ups and practice the songs for my uni application auditions.. but i didnt.. so i got delayed.. i had to download some tracks and practice and such... had a last minute change of one song choice.. and well.. i started 'officially' recording at 3pm... i setup my stuff, as you might have seen of my social networking sites.. haha [it kind of automatically posts to everything; if you are interested to see what i am talking about.. here it is -http://vivukulelegirl.lightbox.com/ ] i had to stand to do the recordings cause it's better for vocals.. and there was no room for the chair so.. excluding dinner... i stood up all the way for 11 hours 0.o

yes, you read correctly.. ELEVEN HOURS. IT'S CRAZY I TELL YOU! I spent 11 hours JUST RECORDING the audio and video for the 5 audition songs. i guess it took so long cause i was trying my best to be a perfectionist.. i wouldnt say the end product is really my 100% best, sad to say.. but it was my best that i could produce today... my vocals were too tired cause of the lack of sleep the past few weeks.. =/ and i lost count how may total takes and re-dos i've had until i'm left with the final 5 tracks.. zomgz. i guess another way to have avoided this was to learn the songs WELL earlier before i recorded. [i was kinda 'practicing' and recording at the same time.. that's why..] but then again, i didnt have time ugh. i tried. so... yeahh.

okay, so i finally finished recording at almost 2am..! then i went to shower. wheee!! and now i am here.. editing the audio tracks.. ALMOST DONE with this last one.. after that, i gotta edit the videos.. like put the audio and videos together.. ughs. and burn them into DVDs.. label them.. check singpost thingies... and also do some of my studio work [school].. and then.. go to school.. lol!!

SEE NO TIME TO SLEEP!! and after consultation, hopefully i can do it earlier.. so that i can go collect my transcript from the school.. go send my audition dvds at singpost.. go home and prepare for Sean's Social Night.. haha

anyways, hope to be able to blog again soon..! i dont know why and how the heck am i blogging NOW, of all times. =/ lol. weird me. hahha okay! wish me luck and see you all! Ah, Life & Growing Up.

Well, isn't it about time that i FINALLY posted a PROPER blog post?? haha. AS USUAL, it's been AGES as all of you who know me and follow my life and such.. lols I am forever busy. ahha. Lately, I've been busy with many gigs and such, which has been great. I am priviledged to have such great opportunities. Although there are also many other sacrifices that I had and have to make along the way to give way to my passions and gaining these new experiences, I believe that they will all be worth it. And all this defines who I am.

In just a blink of an eye, I am down to the last school term of my Polytechnic studies for my Diploma in Experience & Product Design.

Wow, like... I still remember just graduating from secondary school back in 2008, not exactly knowing what was in store for me in my life. And now, I am going through that again.. but on an even bigger scale..! Because it is the last term, it also means something else... GRADUATION.

Which also leads to.... Plans for the future. omgosh. I know for sure that I would like to further my studies, AKA University. Now in this day and time, and especially in Singapore, it's very important to at least have a degree to be somewhat- successful..? [but of course you must continue to work hard after that] not saying that you can't get a job or whatsoever if you do not get a degree.. it's just a silly little piece of paper [okay, and with a little bit of expierence that comes along with it] that helps you to get into that portal of the scary working world... haaaaa

and afterwhich, it does not really matter what you work as anymore. AHHA. it is true, based on many other people's own first hand experience. However, knowing this, i'd think that it would be best to not waste those 3-4 years of studies doing something I do not ever intend to do anyway.. ahha. soo.....

I have not 100% decided on which course exactly I want to do... but i know almost for sure that it will be something to do with the Arts/Media. I'm just slightly disappointed that I did not grant myself that realisation those few years ago when applying for Poly. I did know it back then, but i didnt know for sure if i wanted it so badly. I thought that design would give me more room and market to work with. unfortunately, after these few years in the field, i must say that i still enjoy design... but i do not wish to work in the industry after seeing what it is like.. haha.. well, at least not for long periods of time. I need an active social life. lolz. then again, I can't say that i regret it at all as I have gained soooooooo many wonderful experiences and met many amazing people in the course of these few years in Poly which i think might not have happened if i did not choose this path.

I truly believe that no matter what, everybody's story has already been written and all. everything that happens in your life, happens for a reason. it may not seem right or have any meaning when it happens.. but one day it will. it could be that one little tiny thing like, meeting a stranger on the streets that totally changes your life forever. Life's a journey. not a race. of course, it is good to have some ideas where you will end u eventually... but don't forget to have fun on the way and enjoy life. seize the day. :)

Although I feel totally unprepared, I am quite set on going to Canada to further my studies after i get my diploma... School starts in end of Aug, if i am not wrong.. for the winter intake.. I got to start applying NOW... before feb 2012.. to make sure I can get a place. I have a feeling that.. although aug may sound like quite some time from now... think about it.. remember my 2 mth trip to China for that immersion programme? my goodness, it's almost been half a year since I've come back already..! 0.o

I know that going to Canada will open my eyes, road and experienes and exposure sooo much more..!! but then again, there are so many things that I am very unwilling to let go of.. or put on hold.. i don't know.. moving to another country [though it's supposed to be my hometown] feels like.. a timemachine. it's like... putting everything you have on hold.. freeze mode.. and you go away to like.. live another life.. but that isnt what happens. life goes on in Singapore. people grow up and apart, things change, buildings are torn down and rebuilt every few years.. the thought of CHANGE scares me.. not like i'm the only one..

and not like things will not change if i stay here because they will.. just that I somehow can witness it with my own eyes..

I really love that feeling when you meet up with your old buddies, just sit down.. have tea and chat.. it just feels so wonderful to have a touch of something that has been gone for awhile.. that touch of familiarity. it brings you back to a time... but when you snap out of it. you are back to reality. not that it is bad or anything.. it's just.. different.

I've realised so many things in the past 3 years and I think i've really grown up quite a bit, mentally. you may say 3 years is a short period of time.. it is..! but at the same time, so many things have happened which were life changing..

I was reading some of my older posts recently.. haaa, the things i used to blog about.. there was one... 'things i remember about 2009' looking back at that made me feel that the year, although it passed by really quickly... it was meaningful and many things that happened that year REALLY changed my life.. SO MUCH. and many people i've met who will change my life forever as well.

I think i am going to do that end of this year too.. like some sort of a summary of what happened this year.. and who are the people i've met.. things i've done and such. :) be it good of bad.

I apologize for not having a very clear direction or stand in this post. i am just sort of 'thinking out loud' here.. Kind of like how I like to share intimate chats with my close friends who are good listeners.. I will wander into my own little world.. and talk about different things.. and some self reflections here and there..

much as many people think my life is all perfect and wonderful.. is is not. and neither is it bad. I just want to say that everyone has to go through some sort of obstacles in their life some way or another.. so here is a shoutout to all those friends who are going through some tough times. You are not alone. whatever it is, never give up. :)

okay, back t the topic which i keep digressing from... haha..

Growing up... nobody ever said it was easy.. but it sure is tough knowing that you've grown up to a point where you really have to make your own decisions which will be life changing, no matter what you choose. and also, because you lack of the experience, you will not know what the outcome WILL BE until you try it out. the only thing you can do is to somehow predict or assume how the scenario will be like if you make a certain decision.

man, this has been bugging me for the past 3 years, really.. but i've always thought that i had a lot of time before i had to make that decision... but now i'm having lesser and lesser time.. ugh. much as i hate growing up so fast, i kind of not have much of a choice but to finally accept the facts soon and know that i have to face it and decide. and just do it..!

I guess the main things holding me back are well, the people and things that i hold dear to me. not that they will change my decisions much... but i just can't help but to think of them and what would happen and such.

For those worrying and thinking that you'll miss me, haha. fret not because there is always the internet!! hahaha and also, I will AT LEAST be back in Singapore after my uni to work for 3 years. AT LEAST. [tution grant... ahaahhah] so yeah... and bearing that in mind, do meet me up before it's too late!!!

I shall end this topic for this post here... with the reminder to... while being realistic, still always believe in your hopes and dreams. one day you will get there :) If you can dream it, you can be it.

To all my beloved friends who may be going through similar delimas and such as I am, all the best to you! and do feel free to come have a chat with me anytime! :) We will pull through!! this is a mega huge step that everybody has to go through some point in their lives..

I've been thinking about getting my own domain name so that I can direct people to just one website [that is easy to remember and spell] to get access to all my stuff so.... yeah

However, someone already took www.vivianlim.com D: SOBS! so I can't take that anymore.. In this poll are some other options that I have... Please vote! Perhaps it will help in my decision. I will want to keep it long term. I plan to use this domain to eventually host not only my music stuff but... EVERYTHING. haha. like... videos, hosting, even my design stuff. In a way, like a bit of a portfolio kind of thing.

I am performing this weekend 17th and 18th Sept 2011! :D

It will be at Jurong Point Shopping Mall, Centre Atrium in Singapore..! :D From about 6-8pm each day.

I know many of you stay nearby there, right!? so... ahhaha. would be nice if you could drop by to show me some support. :) Maybe like if you decide to go there for dinner or something.. yeah..!~ ahaha ^^

I will be performing one 20min set on each day. [with some different songs, so do come on both days if you can!]

I went for this Glee Studios Auditions yesterday and made it through! :DDD wheee!! it is a show choir.. like that american show Glee. yeahhh. if you are interested to join, they are holding another audition on Sunday, 11th Sept 2011 [the coming weekend] at Scape*! and let me know if you are going kay! cause if we have more people sign up as a group, there is a discount! yay!

3. eh, actually i dont know what else to update you all about. haha!! there are many bits of my personal life that i want to share.. but not in this post. so yeah.

okay, so i just got home from the dentist.

I went there to get an xray to see if i have any wisdom teeth..
because none of them are visable yet.. so...
turns out, i have all 4..!
which are not fully formed yet..
but are likely to 'pop out' anytime soon, according to the dentist.

ahah. so i texted my mom about it. and this was her reply....

Fate has a weird way of doing things.. A few things didnt go quite according to plan... but they also lead to other, pleasant things that were unexpected and i'm glad they turned out that way.

Don't give up or be sad when some things don't work out in the way you wanted or expected them to be. because that way, it only means that there is more room for other and possibly better opportunities in place for you. :) who knows. ^^

i met some nice people today. and also accidentally bumped into and caught up with some old friends and such. :) i also learned that a friend [sort of] is about to leave singapore and have a huge change in his life. and we are gonna keep in touch. im glad. this would not have happened if my day went how i thought it would have.

generally, i would say that it was a good day.

oh, also had our last presentation for the term. it went FANTASTIC! :DDD the lecturers loved it. bwuahah! all the hard work was worth it. Shoutout to my groupmates! you know who you are. ;)

a good way to end the term, i guess.. and we gotta start thinking about our FYP now. ugh..! though the holiday's started.. i'm already kind of packed-ish with events and things to do, somehow... HAHA! busy busy girl viv. as usual.. i wish i could blog more. there are so many things going on in my mind nowadays.. growing up and such. hahah. maybe i shall.. instead of staying up late and watching somerandom tv show on youtube.. or playing the sims.. i should blog/vlog..! can u believe it!? it's been more than half a year since my last vlog! ugh!!
